Negative Pressure Wound Therapy
National Healing Corporation offers negative pressure wound therapy as part of its
comprehensive wound care management services for hospitals.
Negative pressure wound therapy seals the wound to prevent dehiscence (the premature
"bursting" open of a wound along surgical suture which is a surgical complication
that results from poor wound healing).
A gauze or foam filler dressing, a drape and a vacuum source applies negative pressure
to the wound bed with a tube threaded through the dressing. The vacuum may be applied
continuously or intermittently, depending on the type of wound being treated and
the clinical objectives.
