Joint Commission Certified
National Healing Corporation and its nationwide network of turnkey wound healing
centers for hospitals and hyperbaric oxygen outpatient services are recognized as
meeting the highest standards of care as they collaborate to deliver cost-effective
wound solutions to hospitals through one of the world's largest databases of wound
care clinical outcomes.
NHC has earned The Joint Commission's Disease-Specific Care Certification for Wound
Care. The certification applies to all NHC managed wound healing centers that have
been open for more than four months and have begun tracking the Disease-Specific
Care Quality Indicators.
An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission is the nation's
oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care and it
evaluates the quality and safety of care for more than 17,000 health care organizations.
The first program of its kind in the nation, The Joint Commission launched its Disease-Specific
Care Certification program in 2002. To maintain and earn accreditation, organizations
must have an extensive on-site review by a team of The Joint Commission's health
care professionals, at least once every three years.
NHC Chief Clinical Officer Katherine J. Rowland has lectured extensively preparing
turnkey wound healing centers for hospitals and hyperbaric oxygen outpatient services
for review by The Joint Commission.
NHC managed wound centers are evaluated against The Joint Commission's standards
through an assessment of the turnkey wound healing centers for hospitals' processes,
ability to evaluate and improve care within their own organizations and interviews
with patients and staff.
As part of its comprehensive wound care management services for hospitals, all NHC
managed wound centers report clinical outcomes into a nationwide database that can
be reviewed against the NHC Clinical
PathwayTM. The database guides best practice medicine and details health care compliance.
In addition to providing benchmarks for and detailing NHC managed wound center industry-leading
heal rates and heal times, the database contains and can report upon wound healing
as it relates to wound type, age, treatments and therapies as well as other factors.
NHC turnkey wound healing centers for hospitals also created and contribute to create
the world's largest database of tissue samples housed at NHC research partner
The Ohio State University.
