Chandler Regional Medical Center’s Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Oxygen Center Receives Recognition
CHANDLER, Ariz. (March 10, 2010) - Chandler Regional Medical Center, a member of Catholic Healthcare West (CHW), received three prestigious awards for their Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Oxygen Center at the National Healing Corporation's 2009 annual meeting. The National Healing Corporation has more than 150 centers in the United States and is an industry leader accounting for 30 percent of the nation's managed and outsourced wound healing centers.
Chandler Regional was recognized for having the Best Overall Wound Healing Outcomes of the Year. Brian Paterick, M.D., was honored as Medical Director of the Year, while Lisa Bashford, R.N., B.S.N., received honorable mention for Clinical Nurse Manager of the Year.
"It is an honor to be recognized by the National Healing Corporation for our efforts and devotion to providing the best care possible for our patients," said Terry Happel, M.D., chief medical officer for Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers. He notes that the greatest reward of all, however, is being able to make a difference in the lives of patients suffering from chronic wounds.
Located on Chandler Regional's campus, the Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Oxygen Center is the only center of its kind in Arizona, and one of 32 in the nation, to receive accreditation with distinction from the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society, signifying the highest quality of hyperbaric medical care.
The Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Oxygen Center offers advanced therapies such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy in which patients are surrounded with 100 percent oxygen at higher than normal atmospheric pressure to increase the amount of oxygen in the blood and promote healing from the inside out. Likely candidates for treatment are those suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections, radiation injuries, compromised skin grafts and flaps and wounds that haven't healed within 30 days.
