Clinical Nurse Manager at Wound Healing Center at Union Hospital Honored
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (March 13, 2010) - For her outstanding work at the Wound Healing Center at Union Hospital, Terre Haute resident Cynthia Pugh has been named Clinical Manager of the Year by National Healing Corporation (NHC). The company is a leader in disease management accounting for more than 30 percent of the nation's managed and outsourced wound healing centers.
Pugh accepted the award during an Advanced Clinical Symposium in Orlando, Fla. which featured briefings by internationally recognized specialists on new treatment options and research that may bring additional advances in the care of chronic wounds. Other sessions included hands-on training opportunities, clinical information on accepted standards of care and safety updates.
NHC Chief Clinical Officer Katherine J. Rowland presented the award saying, "I began hearing a new phrase this year, ‘What would Cindy do?' Cindy developed educational training tools at the Wound Healing Center at Union Hospital that are now being used in National Healing Wound Centers across the nation. Under her leadership, her center has increased its service to the community as seen through increased patient visits and treatments without impacting clinical excellence winning her the respect of her staff and this award."
As clinical nurse manager at the Wound Healing Center at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Pugh is responsible for all clinical aspects of the center including providing continuity of care for patients, integrating new therapies into care and training new personnel, reviewing and reporting on patient outcomes and ensuring quality of care.
Accepting the award Pugh said, "I want to thank the entire team at the Wound Healing Center at Union Hospital for their commitment to quality and tireless dedication to the patients in our care. They are an inspiration to me and I'm proud to say a model for other centers."
Robin Lubbenhusen was also recognized as one of four nationwide finalists for the Program Director of the Year Award. She is responsible for recruiting and hiring at the Wound Healing Center at Union Hospital as well as for compliance with federal and state guidelines, budgeting and fiscal policies, and marketing and sales.
