McDonald, Tenn., resident Rhonda Gregg, RN, was honored with the "Clinical Manager of the Year Award" for her work at the Wound Healing Center at Memorial Health Care System in Chattanooga. The award is from National Healing Corporation (NHC), a leader in disease management which accounts for 20 percent of managed and outsourced wound healing centers nationwide.
Nominated by a number of physicians and administrators, Gregg was cited for her numerous accomplishments including an innovative use of the center's resources which resulted in increased physician hours and better service to the community. While treating more patients than ever before, the center significantly enhanced patient care resulting in an eight percent increase in the number of patients who had long-term chronic wounds healed within four months.
NHC Senior Vice President of Clinical Services Katherine J. Rowland presented the award saying, "A number of underlying conditions such as diabetes, vascular disease and radiation exposure contribute to chronic wounds making each one unique. Rhonda's leadership and the exceptional work of her entire team has resulted in enhanced diagnosis and individualized treatments of chronic wounds."
Opened in 2002, the center utilizes state-of-the-art therapies including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, bio-engineered tissue substitutes and vacuum-assisted closure to reduce the time it takes to heal wounds. The winners of the annual NHC awards are based on data from clinical measures reported from its centers.
Accepting the award at the NHC awards dinner in San Diego, Gregg said, "This was a team effort and we have all worked very hard to enable our patients to live more comfortable and full lives. We look forward to staying at the forefront of wound care and serving the community for years to come."
