Meridian Resident Wins Health Care Award

MERIDIAN, Miss. - (April 11, 2008) - Meridian resident Kim Hagwood, R.N., has been honored as Clinical Nurse Manager of the Year for her service to the Wound Healing Center at Riley Memorial Hospital in Meridian, Miss. The award was given by National Healing Corporation (NHC), a leader in disease management accounting for more than 28 percent of the nation's managed and outsourced wound healing centers.

NHC Chief Clinical Officer Katherine J. Rowland presented the award saying, "Kim and her team consistently met 10 of 10 clinical indicators of excellence making the Wound Healing Center at Riley Memorial Hospital a leader in achieving successful wound healing outcomes."

As clinical nurse manager, Hagwood works closely with the center's medical directors and is responsible for all clinical nursing aspects of the center including providing continuity of care for patients, integrating new therapies into care and training new personnel, reviewing and reporting on patient outcomes and ensuring quality of care.

Hagwood accepted the award saying, "When you can see the difference you can make in someone's life, it makes you that much more dedicated. This is for the entire Wound Healing Center team at Riley and their total commitment to our patients."
